Actress Octavia Spencer offered an apology to Britney Spears and the pop star’s new fiancé Sam Asghari after she warned the singer about signing a prenup.
“Make him sign a prenup,” the Hidden Figures actress wrote on the couple’s engagement announcement posted to Instagram.
According to TMZ, Spencer says her “intention was to make them laugh not cause pain,” and she hopes to “restore just a smidge of happiness they were robbed of.”
Sam responded online, thanking Spencer for her apology, saying that “you are very kind to clarify but I have no hard feelings whatsoever.”
“Jokes and misconceptions come with the territory,” he added.
Spencer wasn’t the only person encouraging the “Toxic” singer to get paperwork signed before the big day, and Sam agreed, writing in his Instagram stories, “Thank you everyone who is concerned about The prenup! Of course we’re getting iron clad prenup to protect my jeep and shoe collection in case she dumps me one day.” He added two laughing emojis for good measure.
The couple announced their engagement days after Britney’s father announced he was filing paperwork to end her controversial conservatorship.
Sources told TMZ that Britney’s team is actually working to get a prenup in place for the singer and hubby-to-be.
