Texas Longhorns backup quarterback Arch Manning confirmed that he plans to stay with the program next season, giving a rare interview with Rivals on X ahead of Texas' College Football Playoff Peach Bowl quarterfinal matchup with Arizona State.
âI really have no plans on entering the portal or anything so I donât really know about it, about the whole windows and everything,â Manning said.
Manning, 19, the son of Cooper Manning, nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning and grandson of Archie Manning, started in two games during his redshirt freshman season in the absence of senior starter Quinn Ewers, who was dealing with an oblique injury at the time.
Manning, the No. 1 overall prospect for the 2023 national recruiting cycle, is projected to start for the Longhorns in 2025 following Ewers' inevitable departure. The Louisiana native threw for 939 yards, nine touchdowns and two interceptions on 63 of 95 passing, while also recording 100 yards and four touchdowns on 27 rushing attempts.
Ewers threw for 2,867 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on 250 of 376 passing, which included 202 yards, one touchdown and one interception on 17 of 24 passing during Texas' College Football Playoff first-round game against Clemson earlier this month.
