What an inspiring and historic moment for Olympic Gold weightlifting winner Hidilyn Diaz,30, from the Philippines. Diaz cemented herself into Philippines history as she became the very first EVER Olympic Gold Medal winner the country has ever had in any sport.

The historic moment brought Diaz to tears as during the event Diaz was overjoyed with completing the weight challenge, knowing the opportunity she had right before her.

Diaz, an Air Force servicewoman in the Philippines, has been living in exile in Malaysia due to the Covid pandemic. Watch the moment she was reduced to tears after dramatically won the gold in the women's 55 kg weightlifting class below.

Prior to the Olympic Games, the Philippine Sports Commission guaranteed a 10 million-peso incentive for every Olympic gold medal won by their athletes. Per reports, Diaz gold medal also secured 33 million pesos in cash from the government and several businesses, as well as a house.
